Assignment #1

1. What is cyber bullying? Its bullying but on the internet. It has the same effect as physical bullying it causes emotional problems.

2. What has Myspace done about it? Myspace.com, last fall released a guide for school administrators, advising them to contact the site about false or offensive user profiles or to report threats or cyberbullying.

3. Have you ever known anyone as the victim of cyber-bullying? I'm glad to say no I have not.

4. Toward the end of the article, various plans are mentioned. What's the best approach in your opinion? Utah's State Board of Education amended its existing discipline guidelines for districts to include policies specific to bullying. The changes also included a definition of cyberbullying, requiring districts to offer students and teachers training that would broadly address "electronic means for aggression inside or outside of school." I think this is the best approach because it seems that this would eliminate cyber-bullying by using disciplinary action and would be more effective.

5. Should schools be worried about cyber-bullying at all? I think they should. I say this because a schools purpose is to provide education for students and if a kid is being bullied online for hours and comes to school the next day knowing the person who bullied him or her is in the same class what difference does it make if he got bullied physically. And because of the kid being bullied he most certainly isn't gonna pay attention to the teacher but rather pay attention about the bully. Thus the kid wont get the education he requires.
